Royal Naval Hospital Hongkong October 27 1866.

I beg to call your attention to the great increase of Venereal diseases amongst the Seamen and Marines of H. M. Ships at Hongkong. Many of the patients admitted into this Hospital of late have been suffering from the most virulent forms of Syphilis, which will impair their constitutions and ultimately render it necessary to send them home invalided.

If the spreading of the disease be not stopped it will doubtless assume the same extent and be attended with
